The First Rapid Test Kit for Agrisure™ RW (modified Cry3A, MIR604) Now Available

Portland, ME, July 27, 2007 – EnviroLogix Inc. announces the release of its QuickStix™ Kit for mCry3A (Agrisure RW, MIR604), the first lateral flow strip test to detect this transgenic event in corn bulk grain.

Because Agrisure RW is not approved in Japan, exporters need to be extremely vigilant to make sure that none of the unapproved corn is included in any overseas shipments.

Until now, there was no rapid, cost-effective detection method available to the industry to ensure grain destined for export did not contain Agrisure RW.

Because of the low acceptance thresholds relative to unapproved events, grain handlers will appreciate the test kit sensitivity of 0.75% along with its simple protocol and accurate results. The QuickStix Kit for mCry3A is being submitted to the USDA’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA), and is expected to receive its Certificate of Performance shortly.*

Grain handlers exporting to Japan have been eager to have a fast and reliable tool to screen bulk loads for Agrisure RW, and EnviroLogix has been working with statisticians at USDA/GIPSA to devise suitable sampling and testing protocols that provide the grain industry with practical screening approaches and high confidence levels. The company’s Technical Services Department will be pleased to work with customers to tailor a sampling plan that will fit their specific needs and those of their own customers.

The QuickStix Kit for mCry3A (Cat. No. AS 037 BG) contains strips and disposables for 100 tests. EnviroLogix also offers an ELISA plate kit (AP 050) which will detect 0.2% modified Cry3A in a bulk grain sample.
