Hybridoma Scientist





General Summary: Working with minimal supervision, the primary responsibilities of this position are to select, purify, characterize, and supply antibodies and proteins for new product development projects.



Duties Include:
  • Perform cell culture duties related to monoclonal antibody development including cell fusions, subcloning and cell expansion for purification.
  • Set-up and run fusion product and subclone ELISA plate format screening assays, analyze data and make appropriate selections of cell to carry forward
  • Perform protein-protein and enzyme conjugations with appropriate characterization
  • Participate in development of new protocols and plan experiments to achieve goals
  • Select appropriate method and perform affinity chromatography in both gravity and AKTA prime semi-automated format
  • Estimate timeline for completion of assigned tasks accurately
  • Participate in procedural improvements and solving problems
  • Prepare buffers needed in planned processes in a timely manner
  • Run HPLC, SDS, IEF, Zonal gel analysis on requested samples, review results
  • Order department supplies in a timely manner to avoid critical material shortage
  • Notify department manager in a timely manner of any issues that may arise
  • Be able to do troubleshooting and problem solving on routine tasks
  • Operate department equipment efficiently including pH meter, spectrophotometer, gel electrophoresis, concentrators, filtration etc.

Skills Required:
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in monoclonal and polyclonal antibody development, purification and characterization methods
  • Ability to apply principles learned in one situation appropriately to solve other problems
  • Accurate and complete documentation
  • Attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Accurate and timely communication with other departments
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Ability to plan ahead and identify problems early in the process
  • Work with minimal supervision

Requirements: BA or BS in a science, 5-8 years' experience in a laboratory environment necessary

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in both a laboratory and office environment
  • Ability to utilize a PC and keyboard
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
