The development and production of monoclonal antibodies from mice is an exacting process. Monoclonal antibodies (MAb) with specific characteristics are targeted for specific applications. Throughout the development process there are many opportunities to refine and improve MAbs through purification, fusion, screening, clone selection and/or recombination. The ability to easily monitor and quickly adjust various steps in this process helps focus the resulting MAb to the specifications required. An important characteristic of monoclonal antibodies is the isotype. Different MAb isotypes target the MAb for applications in diagnostics or therapeutics, and more specifically in areas like oncology, neurology or immunology.
